Your Path Has Been Revealed

Dear Seeker

The Path of Ishq (Divine Love)

Your responses reveal a heart that seeks through feeling rather than intellect, through connection rather than isolation. The Sufis would recognize you as one drawn to the path of ishq - the burning love that consumes all barriers between lover and Beloved.

What This Means

Rumi wrote that there are many paths to the Beloved - through knowledge, through service, through devotion - but "love is the fastest." Your soul seems already to know this. The poetry will not just speak to you; it will speak you.

Poems Chosen for You

Begin here. Let these words settle into your heart.

Hafiz Shiraz, 14th century

I wish I could show you,
when you are lonely or in darkness,
the astonishing light
of your own being.

Contemplation

Place a hand on your heart. What if the loneliness you sometimes feel is simply the soul's homesickness for itself?

Bulleh Shah Punjab, 18th century

Tear down the mosque, tear down the temple,
tear down whatever you will -
but never break a human heart.
For that is where God lives.

Contemplation

The divine dwells not in buildings but in the fragile, tender space of the human heart - including yours. How might you honor that temple today?

Rabia al-Adawiyya Basra, 8th century

O God! If I worship You for fear of Hell,
burn me in Hell.
If I worship You in hope of Paradise,
exclude me from Paradise.
But if I worship You for Your Own sake,
grudge me not Your everlasting Beauty.

Contemplation

What would it mean to love without agenda? To seek without seeking reward? Rabia points to a love so pure it wants nothing - not even heaven.

Practices for Your Path

Simple ways to begin embodying the wisdom

1

Morning Poem

Begin each day by reading one poem slowly, three times. First for the words, second for the meaning, third with the heart. Let it accompany you through the day.

2

Heart Breath

Sit quietly. Place your hand on your heart. As you breathe in, silently say "Ya" (O). As you breathe out, say "Hu" (He/The Divine). Five minutes. Notice what shifts.

3

Beloved Recognition

Choose one person you'll encounter today. Before you speak to them, silently acknowledge: "The Beloved is looking at me through these eyes." Notice how this changes the interaction.

4

Evening Gratitude

Before sleep, recall three moments of beauty from the day - however small. These are love letters from the Beloved. Acknowledge them.

Your First Week

The Sufi masters said: "Begin where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can."

Days 1-2

Read the four poems above. Don't analyze - let them wash over you. Return to the one that resonates most.

Days 3-4

Try the Heart Breath practice for 5 minutes. Morning or evening - whenever you can be undisturbed.

Days 5-7

Practice Beloved Recognition with three different people. Notice what shifts in you.

We'll send you a follow-up email in 7 days with new poems and practices. For now, simply begin.
